It’s happened – after 3 weeks of everyday playtesting which involved playing Poland vs Mexico over and over again (if you ask me why these two, that’s the best answer I can come up with), I have finished the first draft of the solo variant. This, however, is only the beginning.
Now, the real playtesting may begin which, hopefully, will involve something more than me playing Poland vs Mexico – and by something more, with all due respect, I mean you, my fellow football fans. And you as well, my fellow soccer fans 🙂
The whole idea behind this solo variant was to provide you with an opportunity to play Hat-Trick without going on a hopeless quest to find another football-loving gamer. Of course you might always wait for the Solo Goal expansion to come out, but this will not happen any time soon and since you have just got the ‘Players’ expansion, I thought you’d like to try it out. So I simply took all the cards currently at your disposal (the base game and the expansion) and I came up with a basic engine which, hopefully, will be the basis on which the Solo Goal expansion will be built. Here it is, ready for download.
All I need you to do is to play it. Ideally to play it while participating in the Solo Tournament. In the meantime, I will be asking you questions and modifying rules accordingly, but for now I think you have a pretty solid basis to start with. Tomorrow, I will follow up with some videos showing you examples of play and in the coming week, you might expect a fresh newsletter. Enjoy!
